ELIZA ANN PRESTON, 6th. child of Ira and Deborah (Goff) Preston, was born Aug. 30, 1829, in Shelby Twp., Macomb Co., Mich. She married Sep. 16, 1852, Alfred P. Carlton, who was born Aug. 21, 1826, in Monroe Co., N. Y. Mr. Carlton was a thorough-going farmer and an experienced engineer. Their children were:

EMMA D. CARLTON, eldest daughter of Alfred P. and Eliza A. (Preston) Carlton, was born Jan. 28, 1863. She married Jan. 28, 1892, George J. Fuhrmann, of Cleveland, Ohio. He was born Feb. 23, 1863. Mr. Fuhrmann is a marine engineer They have one child:
