Is this him? 1850 GA StewartAccording to his Civil War papers, William Fountain Sedgwick was born in Milltown, Georgia. No record has been found.
William Served in the Confederate States Army as a soldier. He enlisted at Green Cove Springs, FL. He was at Appomatox. He received a Confederate Pension.
Family rumors were that he came from Maine. William always said he and his parents were born in Georgia, but in the 1920 census he said he and they were born in Maine. Did he learn something, or did he hear of the town of Sedgiwck Maine, and decided that he must be from there?
