Obituary
On Sunday Feb 14, after a lingering and suffering illness of many months,
combined with his advanced years Samuel T. Sedgwick , a soldier of two
wars, passed beyond the portals of an earthly life---like all old
veterans he has answered the roll call---taps forever. Mr. Sedgwick was
born in Allegheny, Pa., on July 17, 1817 and was nearly 80 yrs of age at
the time of his death. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon from
his late residence at 2:30 o'clock, Rev Petersen of M. E. church
officiating. The G. A. R. took charge of the remains, a large of whom
attended the last rites. The pall bearers were: M. V. Elliott, Robert
Sheriff, Albert Stowe, Z. Hammond, Peter Colton and John R. Leykom. A
large number of mourners followed the remains to their final resting
place. An aged wife and several grown-up children are left to mourn his
demise. The family has the sympathy of many friends in their affliction.

Samuel T. Sedgwick
Sunday Feb. 14, Samuel T. Sedgwick died at his home on Superior Street.
Aged 79 years 7 months and 4 days.
S. T. Sedgwick was born in Allegheny, Pa., on July 17, 1817. He was twice
married; first to Margaret Moran, decreased, and then to Amanda Close,
Whom he married June 19, 1869. He leaves on son Frank by his first wife.
Mr. Sedgwick was one of the early settlers of this county. He located in
the town of Norwood where he was justice of the peace for a number of
years.
His funeral took place Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 at the residence, Rev.
Petersen Officiating. A large number of the G. A. R. boys attended and
the pall bearers were selected from there members.

S. T. Sedgwick, died aged 75 years died Sunday at his home in the fifth
ward, after a long illness. Mr. Sedgwick was an old veteran and was in
the service of the United States through the Florida Indian Wars, and was
engaged in military services during the last war. He leaves a wife and
one son who reside in this city . The funeral services were held Tuesday
at his residence, Rev. Petersen, of the M. E. church officiating.
